Taste Buds
Ooooh for the days when Javin was first learning to eat solid foods. He loved everything he tried. If it was food he couldn't get enough of it. Then he turned two. I don't know who coined the phrase "terrible twos" but I think I want to shoot them. They have cursed us all to suffer through it because we expect it and therefore our children oblige and are well, for lack of a better word terrible. Javin is now one of the pickiest eater I have ever known...Yes Carrie, even more picky than I.
This morning he was in rare form. Nothing we put in front of him was what he wanted. First we tried peaches. Javin usually loves peaches, but oh no not today they made him angry. Then Aaron tried chips, what little kid wouldn't want chips for breakfast, apparently that would be Javin. Then we tried Quakes(those rice snack things with cheddar flavor), he didn't want them in the same time zone as he was. We gave him a glass of milk that didn't work, a glass of apple juice that too was shot down, he even pushed away ginger ale. There was a dry cereal attempt and a even Hawaiian BBQ chips course, all were pushed away with loud and frustrated No's yelled for all to hear. I gave up on breakfast after all that. It was nearly lunch time and we were headed out to get the picnic food soon anyway.
We got all dressed in our shorts and sandals, packed the diaper bag, changed Orissa and Javin's diapers, grabbed the IPod and headed out for Manito Park (the most beautiful park in this part of the state).
As we were driving Javin found the Poppy that the cute little old Veteran's gave him. After looking at it for sometime, he decided that it looked pretty tasty. First he popped the plastic green center off and started chewing on it. We assumed he would get tired of chewing on plastic and spit it out, you know what assuming does, and this time was no different. He did not in fact get tired of it. That part was so yummy he just had to give the polyester pedal a go. Before we thought do anything about it he had consumed all but the wire stem and attached note. If only I had known that plastic and polyester were going to be his new favorite foods, I would have hung on to all those empty water bottles and my dad's old Elvis style jumpsuits!

This is new for me! So here we go!
My sister said this whole blogging thing is a lotta fun and a bit addictive, so I thought I would give it a try. I hope this turns out to be a good way for people I know to keep up to date with my family and I.
Carrie said that this is a good place to keep track of funny things and family events. I just happen to have an "ooooh gross" story, so here goes. Javin woke up the other day with just the nastiest dirty diaper. In fact, the diaper wasn't the only mess. The poo or P-bomb landed all over my bed. You know all over the sheet and through to the mattress. So I figured the best way to take care of the Javin part of the mess was to put him into the bathtub. I ran the water, put in the ever-so-important spongebob bubble bath, threw in all of his favorite bath time toys, and (after wiping him the best could with wipes) put him in. Thinking this would be the best time to take care of the rest of the mess, I proceeded to throw the sheets and blankets, yes that is right he got it all over the quilt too, into the washer. Then while I was doing all that, the baby decided to get hungry. I took a chance and started feeding her. After a few minutes, I hear Javin shouting, uh-oh over and over again. I figured he inadvertently unplugged the tub. I calmly put the baby down and headed in to re-plug the tub. Only when I got there I immediately realized that my day had just gone from gross to absolutely stomach retching. Along with the bubbles, and toys, and Javin, there were green chunky things floating in the now green tinted bath water. In between my retching I had to let the water out, get the boy out, rinse him off, throw away a few toys, comfort the now screaming baby and somehow get the remnants of the latest P-bomb out of the tub. Yay me! After a very harried clean up I finally had some breathing time. I decided to call my mum and cry on her shoulder. About 2 minutes into our conversation Javin started to well lose the breakfast he had yet to eat, I suppose that would be his dinner. I cleaned that up just in time to clean up another P-bomb. The day just kept spiraling downward. After cleaning up four more nasties and thinking I would finally be able to smell fresh air again, I called my sister Carrie to cry on her shoulder. Wouldn't you know it, or maybe I should have known better, just after the conversation/cry-fest started he decided it was the optimal time to lose his cookies yet again. This time I was better prepared for it. I had been following him around with his puke bucket. As soon as he started with the whole pre-puke noises, I pushed the bowl under his nose, which he promptly pushed away and cried which made all my preparations all for naught. I was near tears from frustration, and Carrie was near tears (this is my side of it) from laughing.
To add to it, I had been calling my sweetheart begging for him to come home and rescue me. In fact, I had called him six times. Each message was more desperate, and might I add, more angry than the one before. Just when I was getting ready to tell his phone he could sleep on the couch for being so uncaring, I noticed a small slender piece of electronics sitting on top of the mail that was suppose to go out that day. Yes, you guessed it, he had forgotten his phone at home. The one day I really have a need to talk with him, there it was sitting there silent and unanswered. I was relieved that he had forgotten the phone and wasn't just ignoring me. I sent him and email, and he came home. By the time he arrived home I had changed another 5 P-bombs, I was missing half my hair and the baby was letting me know she didn't at all like being second banana.
Now, 4 days later Javin is still tossing out the P-bombs, but Aaron has been able to work from home and take care of the baby while I take care of the Java-Flava. I have truly changed more stinky diaper than anyone should ever have to in one week (and that is saying something when you take into account the fact that I use to work in a day care in N. Las Vegas with 30 two-three year olds.
These adventures are never ending. Isn't parenthood a blast. I wouldn't trade it for the world, though. I do hope you all enjoy reading the episodes from my life and the pictures and all else I decide to throw on here.
